See where your money is going!
Each year the PTA sets aside money within the budget for one time grants to assist and enhance the Moorlands community. In addition, each staff member is allocated $150 (Moor Money) to use as they wish to support their classrooms.
Grants are submitted in writing to the board and then voted on at the general membership meetings. A grant can be anything from field trip assistance to new health room cots.
Check out where your dollars are going below!
2 New Xylophones
"We want to thank you for the generous grant to purchase two xylophones for the music program, The addition of the two xylophones helps decrease the wait time for the overload music classes to play on the barred instruments. Earbuds
The PTA funded a bulk purchase of around 400 earbuds for each Moorland student that might not bring their own from home.
“While we will be able to handle disinfecting computers, it will be a real struggle to do the same for headphones/earbuds given that the ones we have at the school are over-ear headphones and have a cloth cover. We can't just wipe them down without tearing the cover, essentially. And honestly, it would be so much easier to give each student their own earbuds to keep for the year.” - Tanja Fornier

5th Grade Newbury Grant
“Ten years ago, Mie MIe Wu (the KCLS Bothell Children's librarian) and I initiated a "You Choose the Next Newbury" Program for my sixth grade (at the time) class. The two of us collaborated and voraciously read books we thought would be contenders for the John Newbery medal. Funding is always a challenge; however, because of diligent grant writing, the generous funding of organizations such as the PTA and the passion Mie Mie Wu brings to the program, we have continued to keep this going! As a bonus, books stay in the classrooms for future fifth graders.” - Deb Fullerton
