A Final Note from Serenity & Nahal

We made it! Another school year done. Another year of art projects and field trips, movie nights and craft fairs. And, like many endings, this one is bittersweet for us. On the one hand, summer awaits, with fun adventures and lazy days. On the other hand, our time as PTA Co-Presidents is just about over.

We have had such fun serving in this role. It has been so wonderful to meet and get to know Moorlands’ teachers, staff, and most of all, our amazing volunteers. We’d like to thank each and every one of you who showed up to support the work that the PTA does. Without you, there would be no Popcorn Fridays, no art docent lessons, and certainly no family events like Fall Festival. The time you all have given has helped our kids to have a supportive place to learn and grow.

And that’s what it’s all about. Our kids are getting to grow up surrounded by a community that prioritizes them. They are so fortunate to go to a school where, everywhere they look, there are adults who are there just to support them. That experience will stick with them for their whole lives. We saw that just this week, when the Inglemoor High graduates came back for their parade. They smiled and waved at their former teachers, remembering that they’ll always be Moorlands Mustangs.

We are so excited that even though our time as Co-Presidents is up, your PTA is in safe hands. In May, a new board was elected, with Angela Soine and Molly Wiecks at the helm. They come to this role after serving on the PTA Board for many years, and we look forward to their new leadership. If you get a chance, say hi and introduce yourself to them!

Things will quiet down at the PTA and at school during the month of July, but there are a few key dates to put on your calendar:

  • July 11: Kindergarten Playdate @ Moorlands Park 4PM - 6PM

  • July 30: Kindergarten Playdate @ Moorlands Park 1PM - 3PM

  • August 21: 1st Grade Playdate @ Moorlands Park 4:30PM - 5:30PM

  • August 24: 2nd Grade Playdate @ Moorlands Park 4:30PM - 5:30PM

  • August 26: Kindergarten Playdate @ Moorlands Park 10AM - 12PM

  • August 27: Community Serve Day @ Moorlands 9AM - 1PM
