Welcome Back Mustangs! - A Note From Quinn
/I find it incredibly hard to wrap my head around school starting in just two weeks! For most, if not all of us, this summer has been unlike any other. Perhaps you have had moments to soak up the sunshine or splash in a sprinkler. Perhaps you jumped in the car for a trip or explored the outdoors. Perhaps you snuck into the closet and ate potato chips while your children fought in the other room. However you spent the last two months I hope you were able to recharge a bit and prepare for this next school year.
If you are new to Moorlands, welcome! We are glad you are here and can't wait for you to become a part of our wonderful community. If you are continuing as a Mustang, welcome! We are glad to see you again and excited to see how you will grow.
Whoever you are, the start of this year is going to be different and unlike any other we have had. However, I believe that different does not mean bad. I truly feel we have a wonderful opportunity to support one another and come even closer together as a community throughout this year.
Community. This word has come to mean so much more lately, hasn't it? I know sometimes, especially now, we can feel as if we are doing this alone, without a community, and it can feel very lonely. Please remember though that you and your student are supported visibly and invisibly in so many ways. Teachers, staff and the PTA are all here to support you and your family through this coming year.
Of course I want to take a moment to plug the PTA and why it is important now more than ever.
PTA helps bring families together
PTA helps create virtual and in-person community building
PTA provides one voice for our community to bring about change
PTA provides funding for online subscriptions and new tools for classrooms
PTA provides parent education and enrichment
PTA champions new projects and ideas
PTA provides extra learning opportunities for students
PTA organizes the volunteer support for school activities
PTA funds and supports the arts programs at school
Any one of the above is reason enough to join the PTA, but you get them all and so much more!
Please know that joining does not mean you have to volunteer or champion a cause or even attend meetings (though all are encouraged).
Joining is a way to show you support all of the things your PTA does to sustain and grow our community.
I encourage you to join me in supporting our community by becoming a PTA member.
We look forward to embracing this fall with you! Go Mustangs!
Quinn
